Rewriting the Future of Representation in VR
We believe true innovation starts when everyone gets the chance to lead. Female Fantastic is a journey where young creators, especially young women of color, are at the center. Here, being a hero is about who you see in the story and who gets to make the story.
Right now, our participants are working closely with professional artists, game designers, and creative mentors from the international gaming and cosplay community. Together, we imagine, design, and build an Afrofuturistic VR world. Every step is about co-creation, from the very first story idea and character sketch to bringing those ideas to life with 3D animation, music, and immersive sound. We learn from each other and welcome every unique talent. We make space for all voices and encourage imagination at every turn.
What makes Female Fantastic special is the spark our participants bring. They find inspiration in Afro-Caribbean legends. They dream up new universes. They explore the possibilities of cutting-edge technology. We focus on real empowerment and representation. Young women get a meaningful platform in creative tech, a field where they are still rarely seen. Everyone who is excited about art and technology is welcome. We pay extra attention to those who don’t always get invited in.

Female Fantastic is more than a project. It is a growing, supportive community. Right now, we are in the middle of the making phase. We are experimenting, collaborating, researching, building worlds, and solving challenges together. Our participants shape every part of this journey. The final VR experience is something we look forward to sharing with the public, but for now, we are enjoying the creative process. We are learning, dreaming big, and growing together as a team.
If you want to support a new generation of creative innovators, or if you are curious about what happens when bold ideas meet new technology, follow our journey. Join us. Together, we are making the future of art and tech more inclusive and more fantastic for everyone.
We are proud to share that Female Fantastic is supported by the Cultural Participation Fund (Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie).
